I want to make this very clear for everyone who is participating in this forum. Spamming posts, posting one line threads, or just generally not being very constructive, are sure fire ways to get yourself banned.

I appreciate everyone wanting to fight their way to the top, we've certainly had some competitive weeks over the month of August, but posting "Good Job" or "I like it" is not enough to warrant a valid post. Picking the Top Poster of the week is not simply a numbers game, it does require valid participation. If the number one position spammed a lot of posts during the week, or had to be warned about it, the Title of Top Poster may go to the person second in line.

SO with that being said, make sure all of your posts are constructive and beneficial to the site. Otherwise, the Iron Fist will swiftly counter any frivolous actions.

Please do have fun, but I can already see some of the posts heading in the "useless" direction and it won't be tolerated. Following the Rules is worth it, I promise.

I agree, it happens. I hold no animosity, but when things get close like this between two posters near the deadline, I have to throw out warnings. I just simply cannot allow people to get hurt feelings because their actions made me choose someone else. If you don't know you're doing something wrong, then you'll never correct yourself. Thank you for heading the warning, now get back out there. Virtual might catch you slipping.

Even if you don't like something, you can still be objective and constructive. Constructive Criticism is the way to bettering not only yourself but others. People don't like to hear the truth, and when people produce garbage most people respond in turn, without actually saying, "well I didn't like 'this', because of 'this', so maybe you could 'this' instead."

If someone produces crap, lets try to rise above childish antics and tell them what they are doing isn't working for whatever reason. Saying "good Job, or nice video" even when it wasn't, isn't helping anyone.

If you watch a vid and you dont like it, you dont even have to respond. It is definitely appreciated when feedback is given on people's effort. Either way, those "nice vid" replies probably shouldnt be counted towards the post count. If its an in-depth reply to a video that got you thinking, then yes, those should count.

I mean like if I like it but there is just things that I can say that a commentator can work on and some people might get mad, and I don't want to do that.

If you are constructive and non-abrasive, and the people get mad, that's on them. if your replies are objective, there should be no problem.

Most people can take a little criticism, but some people can't. I got into quite a doozy over the word "legitimate" when I first signed up here, and the kid never let it go, but he's gone now and it's no big deal.

If you feel like you need to tell someone what they could do better, just make sure you say something positive about their work (even if it's small), that will help most people avoid hurt feelings and focus on what they can do better next time.

It's nice that you mention this. I have seen a lot of NON-constructive posts. People just want to get the top poster award, so they think they can just get away with posting a bunch of nonsense, which of course is counted as spamming. I specifically know someone that is banned from this forum that never has understood this rule. Brandon, Bwillie, and Blink know who I'm talking about.

No. Thank YOU, sir. Terrible grammar is not only getting on your nerves. It's getting on mine, too.

Tip: Read over your posts before you click "Send". What's not to understand about that?

Um, the grammar is bad because english is their second language, not because they were poorly educated by the American school system. It bothers me too, but you gotta be a little lenient. Image if we were on a spanish forum talking to people, I'm sure our grammar would suck too.

It's funny because about 75% of the people causing this problem live in America.

Seriously? I am an American and No1 is an American, and I for one think that we have some of the best rhetoric on this site. Not because we are supermods or anything along those lines, but because we care about this forum and how this forum presents itself. Therefore, I would appreciate it if you did not bash my country in any way shape or form. The same goes for anyone bashing another person's country. This is a forum for commentators, GFX creators, and editors. If you want to bash America or any other country, then get the hell off this forum.

Jokky: ESL (from Netherlands)

I'm not sure who you've seen recently with awful grammar that was anyone but them, they both come from a different country where English is their Second Language. So based on what I've seen, and I've taken a look at most all of the threads started in the last week and a half, there are 0% American's using poor articulation in discussions. So I don't know where you got this made up #.

At Ease Azn. Don't pull out the ban hammer just yet Very Happy, lets not make this into something it wasn't, I don't think anyone was intentionally bashing America. Sure, America has it's problems (we all do), but they are temporary and hopefully it'll pull through. End of Conversation.

Also with that being said, Blink, you may have gotten some high regards coming over here from GGG, but all I've seen you do is stir the pot. Please stop and let things simmer. You've been abrasive and just generally going against the grit, and at times (like this) preventing social growth. That may be cool in your social circles, but it doesn't fly here.

So like 1-3 sentences is fine for replying is that what you saying?
If so i wouldn't mind doing a couple of sentences as the minimum requirement for a post or reply.

Had a feeling that's what you meant. Now it's time to put more meaning into what i mean by things. I try to keep things short and simple, because most people comprehend pretty well. (I'm not saying people are dumb.)

there isn't a whole lot of tolerance for BS from veterans and their families. It's easier to see through the cloud once you've gotten enough experience under your belt. I try to be tolerant when I see people over reacting, I have to catch myself as well. It happens, but that's how a community grows. You argue, you agree, you make mistakes, you experience things together, but sometimes people get out of hand when they do it needs to be addressed quickly and moderately. I was raised by a Marine so yeah... 3 years in military school... I'm not going to go into it, but let's just say I did very well. Didn't agree with the conditional goals of the military at the time and separated myself from it. That however is a completely different story.

I think the reason I'm so adamant about keeping things in check on this forum is because I can really see it going somewhere. It does frustrate me that our administrator isn't around a little more because things get neglected. I can't speak for him but I assume he must have a lot going on or something in his life has taken precedence. I'd love to see this forum turn into a social networking site for gamers. I could totally see that being the next big thing for the industry and this site already is starting to get a good foot hold (like LinkedIn for serious gamers), it just needs expansion in certain direction to draw in more like minded and skilled gamers.

This is why I promote people being constructive. If a guest looks on the forum and just sees a bunch of regulars bickering on every other post, they leave. If they see well informed content and an interactive conversation about the topic at hand, they stay. That's the bottom line. Whenever things move too far away from a thread's topic we close it down for that very subconscious reason. If we can actively recognize that, things will be much more productive all the way around. That's inclusive of the staff continually promoting that behavior. Tolerance is the key to that though.

Oh JD, you're so funny.
