Exactly on both accounts. You are never going to come close to the big guys by just doing what they do. They already established their niche. Find yours.

The best way to stand out would be to come up with something that is either never been done or is rarely done and try to make it original make it your own way of doing it the uniqueness is what makes you an individual on youtube which makes you stand out

all of the above are good points. I will throw in that try to play games that people are searching for, such as newer games that are coming out. However, there are some games that have too many commentators, i.e., CoD. but try to play a game right when it comes out to try to get new people. I guess that you do CoD vids, so try to put of a black ops 2 vid as soon as you can when it comes out. I hope this helped

see, while that game is really popular, the youtube community will instantly be flooded with commentators for every thing here and between. Infact the youtube search is already polluted ith BO2 expectation commentary's, you'll have to go up against a huge competition to get noticed in that market, that doesn't mean don't try, but you've gotta find your niche. Even if that niche is just a different reinvented style of the same ol' thing.

As no1leftb3hind said it will be flood the trick is either to be fast or try a game with a little less hype around it so that you stand a chance of being noticed like sleeping dogs or RE 6 or even darksiders 2 because bo 2 and halo 4 will have alot of hype around them

Yeah, it is a really fine line on how to get noticed. I started posting NCAA football 13 videos the day it came out. I have gotten about 25 of my 35 subs from just those videos. and another 5 from my minecraft vids.

I agree, making videos for games that don't have a lot of fanfare is a good way to get subscribers and views. Simply because everyone who cared enough to setup there system for this type of thing is usually deeply invested in a set of a few games. If you branch out from that you may find yourself picking up likes quickly.

Yeah, the only problem is that there is a really fine line between leaving a video response where people don't think it is spam and leaving a video response where people think its spam. As long as its relevant to the genre then yeah but say if its a cod video and you post a vlog then eh

my opinion is that it is getting increasingly harder to stand out on the youtube commentator scene. gone are the days when awesome gameplay equaled awesome results. now you need to be original. whether being original in content, in what you commentate about, humor, etc. The obvious thing is that being original is something that helps you stand out. For example one of the commentators who I know has recently gotten big is buuman. A lot of people say that he got a lot of subs because of his unique voice and his ability to tell stories. Another one is iPwnstar4hire he got popular because of his random perverted humor. woody got popular because he was one of the first. just try and find something that is unique about you and play off of that.

Exactly, being original is key. Find something that you both enjoy and is something you haven't seen done. Find your own thing, because if you're doing the same thing as Faze, why wouldn't I just go watch a Faze video. Do you see where I'm coming with this?

Honestly if you want to become known, POST EVERYWHERE, Post your videos as Video Responses to Videos in General Idea as yours. Such as a Faze Montage put your montage in a Video Response. Also send messages to a lot of channels. I know it's spamming, but in subject put Read. Also Add everyone that puts there skype up in there channel and send them links to your vids over skype, Post on facebook pages, Live Stream, Follow a lot of people on TWITTER and Just post a lot of shit with alot of these #CoD #BlackOps2 #Whateveryour playing. It don't matter, What ever is the highest trend at the moment. Stuff like that. Also do sub 4 sub, Sub Box with people, Upload your clips to cinemas (I'm starting that). Stuff like that.

I dont know if anyone post this but in my opinion here are ways to stand out but it will take time:

1. Be original
2. upload daily and always at least once a month give a channel update
3. Dont be afraid to speak ur mind.
4. Interact with other channels and creat video responses to higher and bigger channels of the same content you upload.
5. Just be yourself and have fun do what you do.
6. If COD video clips arent doing it for you then try to do more variety of footage.

Hopes my advice helps in some way possible.

Aim for games that are not overly populated with commentators but yet still have a decent size fan base. I used this tactic when I first started and still use it today. My channel was only about half a year old when I got partnered by TGN. It is the key to getting tons of views and subscribers, it is worth the time to invest in searching for these types of games if your serious about becoming partnered one day.

Everyone pretty much told you everything you needed to know. Again just be original or if your not getting views on what you are doing maybe take a different approach on it. Just
dont do what others are doing, its nice to get ideas from others but dont take there ideas especially from FaZe.

He's one of those dump and runners pretty much. I haven't, nor will I watch any of his vids. And the fact that they are sniper vids are even less appealing to me.
