Hauppauge HD-DVR Gaming Edition

SO I bought this box about 7 months ago for $200 plus S&H, and I have been recording everything. It's an inbetween and works for all three mainstream console systems. It runs component cables but plays in 1080p.

It has worked really well, it comes with a program you install on a computer and it plugs right in via USB. Excellent Loss-less quality and there is no lag in your gameplay.

This is the best option for PS3 users unless you have a dazzle and a TV with video output, but even then the conversion relies heavily on your computer, the Hauppauge does the conversion for you, taking off some of the strain from your computer. This really is an excellent device.

I actually have used mine for probably 500+ hours of game time and recently I've been getting some lines on my tv and the other day it freaked out when I started recording, it may just be the wires or in need of some dusting. I'll post more once I figure out what's wrong with it, trying to upload my next vid atm, so I don't want to mess with the editing computer in the process.

How mix h is it for one?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It just died. I guess leaving it on for the last 6 months was a bad idea, I turn off the ps3, but I always forget to turn this thing off. I'm contacting their support, they have an automatic 2 year warranty on all units from the date of purchase on your receipt though, so it should get replaced. I just won't have it available for PS3 Game night. I'm so sad.

yeah, I'm going to talk to the people on Monday and see if they'll replace it. I'm being rather hopeful, but I think everything will be ok. I'm just upset that I've waited nearly a month to get the PS# game night going and now I won't even be able to record for it. Just pisses me off that it choose now to crap out on me, It could have just waited one more week.

Person at the shop: How did it break did you leave it on for 6 months cause that isn't covered by our warranty.

nah, actually leaving it on is one of the few thans actually covered by it, they stand behind their products.

Wow thats a huge flaw when your warranty is nearly done just leave it on constantly recording XD

I mean, I did get probably around 750 hours of HD recorded on it, so honestly even if they don't replace it, I've gotten my money out of it
