Out in Bull City for the weekend performing for some friends.

Wow thats epic, how long did it took to learn those moves and how much times did you got burned?
Anyway I like that quite much, how do you see the rod at night?

I've been doing it for about 6 months now, I taught myself with much patience. I've only lost my facial hair once, and I've got about 2-3 minor burns/scars, and I've gotten a black eye from the staff hitting me in the face, not the fire.

I have fun doing it, it keeps me outdoors and people like to watch it. For the most part, when you're spinning speed style at night you really just want to feel the stick, your not so much looking at it as you are where the flames are going.

I suggest getting a gig at a renaissance festival or something. Make some money on it

That's pretty good man i been doing spinning polls for a long time because it was fun, but i always wanted to do it with flames

I work at my local country club, they have luaus up there occasionally. They have been talking about getting me to spin fire during one. I aaid sure, but I want like $200 bucks or something. The party planner didn't even bat an eye and said, "Sure." So that's probably where this will lead. The ren fair folks don't really like having new people come one their turf. I just don't want to get in a fight with the Tortuga Twins/

The tortuga twins are fucking awesome. You could replace dead bob and I'm sure you will be thanked

awww.... that's rough. I didn't think he was that bad. I want to give the masked magician that sits near the center of the grounds a real deck of cards and see if he can do magic tricks with that. If he gets your card right, it's because every card in the deck is the same.

Actually some of those guys are a lot better than me with their routines, I certainly don't think I could produce a show like they do, at least not right now. I'd probably just walk around the park.

I go every year. Went the other weekend and am going again Saturday.

we're a little down on the money this year and the drive is a little too far for how busy we are. I'm a little envious you live right next to the place, by comparison. Eat a turkey leg and drink some mead for me bud.

Charlotte is an awesome area man. So much to do. And I'm more of a sausage on a stick (no homo) and Nance's black ale guy myself

@josh, do you guys dress up for it? My girlfriend and I have been slowly working on our costumes for the past few years, still not very good yet, but we have fun. I want some of those fitted 'mocassins' or whatever those boots are called, but they are just too damn expensive.

No I don't dress up. I love going to it but I don't get down with wearing any of that weirdness

I always wanted to learn how to do this but i kinda want to learn how to use the violin xD

yeah, violin's are kinda awesome (no homo). But seriously, this is the kinda thing you learn if you have a high pain threshold, because you will mess up, it's inevitable. (Hello Run on sentence). Most people prefer Poi, which is the chains with the balls on the end. And I'm pretty decent with them (my buddy is alot better than I, trying to get him to send me his footage but he is being a homo), they also have a much steeper learning curve. The staff is easy to pick-up because many of us have grown up playing with sticks, but to get it down with all the craziness is another story. Most people that I see who get past the tiwrling the stick phase get really sloppy when they try to do anything cool. It's got be harmonic with your surrounding and yourself, you kinda gotta let go and no think but still concentrate, quite an odd experience.

Lol i see nothing wrong with violin to be me i think they're the best musical instrument because it's so soothing to me.
