it's a slow process to be honest. There is no 'get rich quick' process to this game. Just be original, it takes time to get the quality down when you are just starting, but keep videos short.

Most people won't watch gaming videos in their entirety if the video is longer than 5 minutes or so. keep the length of videos around 2-3 minutes. Try to avoid cheesey media, don't be afraid to go out on a limb and try something new.

I'm still growing but recently some of my vids have kept a constant viewership coming in. Also it helps to be innovative with how you tag your videos. Using the right words in tags will help people find your video.

Try to post interesting videos on a regular basis, so that your subscribers have something to look forward to. Don't do sub4subs, it never helps and yourchannel ends up with lopsided numbers that don't accurately paint the picture. (for instance I've seen a channel with 300 subscribers and only 40 video views)

It all helps to, and this may be the most important thing, set a goal for your channel. Why are you youtubing? What do you hope to achieve? For me, I've abandoned some of my initial thoughts about it, and now my channel has become more of a portfolio rather than a source of income, which is far more realistic.

Practice, Practice, Practice. Try to avoid 'uh's and um's' in your commentaries, try to stay on point, depending on what your talking about, you want to either be very brief about what you're trying to say, or you want to go into every detail (in an organized fashion). It all depends, there is so much variety.

The vast majority of being successful is really just getting lucky. You can also watch other people's vids for some inspiration. But whatever you do, DO NOT COPY!!!!! what other people are doing. Why would anyone want to watch a half-assed version of what someone else is already doing better.

And try to make sure you have variety. I don't think anyone can be successful now doing just one thing anymore. But what do I know. My channel is perpetually floundering in its own self-pity.

I wrote a guide on here that also accepts input from the community so it's not just my bias thoughts. Honestly, I forgot it existed until now.

Why don't you sticky it? Or put it as a Global Announcement? So more people can see it.

I only 57 subs so I too need help growing my channel but one thing that I can say is that when I watch commentators and gameplays, I don't really like to watch vids of games I don't play myself even if they are a good commentator, I just can't relate to the game so you would want to play a large majority of games to chapter a larger audience, and again I may not have that many subs either but I'm giving you my take on it as a viewer as oppose to an experienced youtuber XD

well if we talk about likes and dislikes, I dislike the majority of commentaries, there are a few I like and even less I watch on a consistent basis. Most people can't get their words out, or make lame attempts at cornball jokes, they waste the first 5 minutes of the video without saying much of anything, they use uh's um's and dead silence to cover up inexperience... oh god this list goes on for a while, I'll just end it there. A lot of things that are popular actually rub me the wrong way, like, "how the hell is this popular?" You have to understand, the people that do well on youtube, hands down, are the people that spend money on advertising. Period. End of story. In some fashion they've spent money on advertising either a single video, a video series, or the overall channel. It could be the crappiest channel every, but once you hit 100k views in 2 days, get 800 subscribers, it's likely that you'll be doing okay from there on. Some people just get into the right circles, I post some of my videos on half a dozen different sites to get views, some do well, other's dont... I'd suggest, that if your really want to do well on youtube, decide "what is doing well" and what your intention for being there is. Otherwise, without and intention, you can't know if you're doing well or not.

Well yes, (and also I understand that you may not enjoy commentaries but there are some people that I like and, to me, I understand why they would be famous cuz some of em are actually pretty funny XD) and also i know that some categories are doing well, and some aren't, but there are also a lot of people who are into gameplay commentary (not everyone, but there are some people who have large followings in that) but again, it also all depends on the commentator as well. And yes there are some people where im like "how... is this guy famous?" Like ive seen some people who are just as good if not worse than I am (commentating and quality wise) and they have like hundreds of subs and here i am at around 60... And then there are people who actually DO deserve the thousands or however many subs they get (my opinion, of course) because I know not everyone likes that kinda stuff either but, its all on your own opinion. But just one suggestion, if you're going to be a commentator, then make sure to actually commentate XD cuz like No1 sed, theres ppl who use uhs and ums and sometimes dead silence to cover it up, which is never a good thing. I try to talk as much as I can but if im doing something boring in my game with not much interest sometimes its hard to talk about it so if i end up NOT talking at that point i would like cut that out and maybe put in like a fading transition or something like that so at least its not dead silence or me TRYING to talk and then end up saying "uh" or "um" and looking like a complete dumbass that doesnt know what hes talking about xD

I shall elaborate. Why in the hell do so many people enjoy doing and listening to parody songs? They are so f'in lame. Like I said in my rant vid, the only person that has the right to do parody songs is Weird Al. And I also don't understand how WingsOfRedemption is so popular. All he does is bitch. Bitch about how hard his life is when he never has to work because he's getting paid thousands of dollars to load videos on youtube. Three videos a day of bitching. GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I digress.
