How come youtube will pay you to post your videos?

well it's not really that simple, they don't pay you like you're thinking. Here's the break down

You create video
You contact content owners used in your footage for usage rights. (i.e. Any gaming company that doesn't have an easily accessible EULA providing rights.)
You post video on youtube
If you own all rights or have been given permission by music/ footage owners, you monetize your video.
You promote you video for views, with monetized ads enabled
For each viewer that clicks and follows the ad, or sits through a 'advert' at the begining of your video, you get paid $0.05 (5 cents).
After your first paid view, youtube will ask you for your ownership rights
You provide youtube with proof of your rights
If their review clears, you are now able to make $0.05 for every viewer that clicks on the ad in the monetized video.
Rinse and repeat for every other video.
