With the movie world releasing more and more adaptations of our favourite games.

From the likes of...

Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Tekken, Doom and Tomb Raider to the styles of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and with future releases including - Assassins Creed and Hitman 2 in the works

How to we all feel about how our gaming world has been brought to the big screen as of late.

Do you have any favourites adaptations or any you feel just dont hit the mark?

Do you feel it needs to be stepped up and improved appon and game companys should stick to what we expect them to do and give us the best gaming experience we deserve or keep investing millions of $$$$ in the movie franchise in hope of delivering us a new experience from that we gain from gaming.

I'd like to see so less main stream games make their way to big screen, ones that have a really good story that need to be told. This kinda goes back to tthe RPG discussion, but most of the movies that are being put out are just hollywood twists off a good thing.

I think most of the movies are just done because of the money you earn with it, just watch the mario film, it's as bad as hell.
In my opinion, they should do it other way round, maybe a video game about the fast & furios series, that'll be great Smile
Anyway, if the movies are good, I accept them as a film of a game but if the movies are bad, I about to cry , because they ruined the reputation of a good game Sad
A good example for a good film and a good game is transformers, the first two movies are great in my opinion (never watched the 3rd one, but already on my to-do list) and the video-games aren't that bad.

I dunno, I usually hate most video games made from movies. They are short, boring, and they make you watch something you already watched for the most part. However instead of them make game from a movie adaption, I'd like to see games that either continue the story, tell a prologue, or both with everything in between.

The LotR game series wasn't too bad, they had a few good spin offs, but then again the movies were adapted from books. hmmm... maybe we should just skip the middle man and just start adapting stories from books into games... but silly me, that would require people to read books. HAHAHAHAHAHAHa, good one No1.

I have never seen any Hollywood video game movie adaptation, but I did see a fan-made Mega Man movie that was decent.

I also was an article online about this because of the Metal gear Solid movie that is supposedly going to come out.

And I think movie video game adaptations are not that great because you can already visualize the story and the characters and other stuff, and with books not everyone will see the same person in their head than in a game or a movie.

The other way around is a crappy idea since the game will need lots of filler to make the game long, and most of the time the filler is crap.

Anyways, I think games and movies should be as separated as possible as far as adaptations go.

Oh, The Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was a good adaption. I almost completely forgot about that.

See my thing is, that most movies that are made into games, that aren't marketed at kids, can be good if the movie was based of a book, because then there isn't filler. Movie's based on books usually have to cut a ton of stuff out, so book to game adaptions could be awesome, there are definitely some awesome series out there.

I wish there was a Goosebumps game.

You never played any Barbie Games, right? Smile
Charakters and storylines are almost the same but they are much more longer.
I know that you can't compare them with "real" games but they count as a video Game anyway Smile
I mentioned the Transformers games, they are kind of a proluoge, I don't like exakly adaptions of films too, but if the fillers are good or it's a pre- or sequal, I got nothing against them

If they do a Dragonball movie, i would watch it, just because I want to see, how they managed the mimic of the charakters and the special attaks, but you're right, dragonball irl isn't as good as the series or the games

Lol have you seen Dragonball Evolution freaking worst movie ever....
If you a dragonball fan you would understand why it was because the special effects was totally off and stuff it looked good, but it wasn't the right one for the show. They skipped a lot of scenes went from Dragonball to Dragonball Z in one movie I'm like wtf.

nah, see, that doesn't bother me too much, I realize when I watch movie adaptions that they are going to get condensed. They just simply can't fit 3-4 seasons of material in less than 2 hours, it just can't happen. The closest they can get is OVA's, which I genuinely prefer over original series because they cut all the repetitious filler. I actually was pretty happy with how they did Airbender, they got the big plot line shifts for the most part. The one thing I didn't like about the Avatar Airbender seasons was how they cut it short. I would have liked them to finish what they started.

That's why it pissed me off. If you going to makes something at least finish it because it was really annoying how they had that...

I feel that they should put more detail into creating movies from video games. It's just not the same.

Lol finally someone understand what I'm saying and sh*t. That's a valid statement right because the graphic they had looked pretty cool but it wasn't dragonball Z material that could have been used for something like pokemon or some random show with effects.
Overall the movie will forever suck to me it ruin my childhood T_T

I personally want the uncharted series made into movies but only if they use the games story lines. Also, drake would have to be played by Nathan fillion or(and I'm be dead serious here), me. And I have absolutely no acting experience to help my endeavor.

Lol I would actually go see the movie if you was in it to be honest xD
Sounds like it would be a interesting movie, but I'm not a fan of the series though.

I want to do the games justice so I need a gigantic effects budget.

That would be pretty awesome. Uncharted is a game I can sit and play for hours, so I know the movie would be interesting, especially if you were in it.

I just want to affirm that I didn't make my original post to fish for ass-kissing. (Although it is kinda nice). I only said it because I love those games and the people I have saw rumored (mark whalberg, Hugh jackman, others) are horrendous choices for the part and I feel that my personality is far closer to drake's than any of the aforementioned names. Well other than Nathan fillion.

I just hope they don't cast johnny depp, that would be the worst. I could see a young harrison ford doing it, or even brad pitt, but I'd still like the joshb version too. I don't know about a huge effect budget, I've got like a grand to spare; but I do work at a country club, maybe I could get some investors.

Edit: Actually now that I think about it, Jensen Ackles would fit the role perfectly, he's got the look, that's for sure... I just don't know if they can get him past the Supernatural thing.
